The gender of God is a highly controversial matter among Christians.
It's an especially meaningful controversy for women who may feel like second class citizens in the Garden of Eden.
Or for women who have been physically, sexually and emotionally abused by men.
They have understandable difficulty relating to, or even believing that there could be, a Father God who is kind, loving and just and whose laws are for his people's protection. These genuine difficulties have become a political controversy over God's gender that demands gender neutral language by using the word "parent" instead of Father.
Or gender inclusive language by replacing "Father" with "Father and Mother" in scripture, prayer, and liturgy.
This is all part of a larger political effort at gender sensitization.
There are at least three theological problems in dealing with God's gender according to the rules of modern day political correctness...

Unfortunately, most of the politically correct changes made in both Christian and Jewish sects that rewrite the Scriptures to create a bi-sexual image and likeness of God is done out of political fear and caution not theological courage and conviction.
It is an attempt to dictate to God, the supreme lawgiver, that his laws shall be in line with human policies; instead of human policies being aligned with his law.
And these human policies emphasize gender empowerment in favor of women.
And, while this may be laudable in the work place, it leads to false "Constitutional Rights" such as abortion; which violates the Commandment "Thou shalt not murder".
It also violates the American Constitutional Right to Life, which was made law in the Declaration of Independence and the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution.
Many human policies deny God as the creator and, instead, make him their creature.
And they do ministry in their invented creature's name to their detriment.
So if your ministry imposes your image or your law on God, it does so at serioius spiritual risk...
God simply does not recognize himself in politically correct "designer versions" of himself.
If he did, he would be an untrustworthy chameleon politician-god violating his own Commandments to suit the ever-changing, often un-Godly, political goals of his people.
So, the gender of God is not to be toyed with lightly because such "scholarly" activity...
