What Is A Romantic Relationship?

And therein lies the trap for ministers...celibate or married.

Romance suspends reality. And reality becomes the imagined world...the world as someone thinks it should be. Some even think that adultery should be God's will for ministers and is...in fact...the way God really intended it to be.  

And it would have to follow then...that the chaos which afflicts families and individuals when romance passes as ministry...must be what God wants.  Hmmmm.

The romantic phase of a relationship seems necessary...if the relationship might become an intimate relationship.  Because romance limits the lovers' perceptions of each others' faults...otherwise the enterprise would hardly get off the ground!

And a romantic attachment is always based in feelings and cannot be confused with a the meaning of love...because love is expressed in action that must often be independent of feelings.

When emotion goes...romance goes.

Romantic relationships require that people be together on a consistent basis.

Love...that is love based in action...can even survive the beloved person's death. For example...

The simple act of praying for a dead loved one...telling the good stories about them at family gatherings...visiting the grave of a departed loved one...are all loving actions that honor a departed person.

Hard to have a romance with someone six feet under...or on the mantle in a container. When a romance is over...you move on to the next one.

Love never has to be over.
